WMX Crypto Exchange
A production crypto exchange where customers buy and sell cryptocurrency in Naira through Paystack, with every rate, fee and margin controlled from an admin panel.
The problem
Most small crypto brokerages run on WhatsApp and a calculator. Rates are quoted by hand, margins drift between staff, and there is no record of what was promised at the moment a customer agreed. The failure is not the trading — it is that the pricing lives in someone's head and the audit trail does not exist.
WMX Exchange is a Laravel 12 application that turns a manual brokerage into a self-service platform, with the pricing logic moved out of staff heads and into a rate engine the business controls.
Buy flow
A customer picks a coin and enters an amount in USD or Naira. A live receipt is computed over AJAX and shows the exact breakdown before payment: the rate applied, the network fee, the service fee and the Naira total. They pay that exact total through Paystack's hosted checkout, and the coins are sent to the wallet address they supplied. There is no negotiation step, because the price is already explicit.
Sell flow
For sales, the platform shows a deposit address specific to the network the customer is sending on — the commonest cause of lost funds is sending on the wrong chain. The customer uploads the transaction hash as proof, an administrator verifies it, and payout goes to their bank account.
The rate and fee engine
This is the part that matters commercially. Administrators control the supported coins and networks, the global NGN/USD rate, per-coin markups, service fees, and minimum and maximum order sizes. Changing a margin is a settings change, not a message to staff, so every quote issued after that moment reflects it.
Guest checkout and one-tap sign-in
A first-time buyer can complete a purchase without creating an account, because forcing registration before a first transaction is where most crypto onramps lose people. Returning customers sign in with Google in one tap.
Administration
The admin panel covers the dashboard, the rate and fee engine, orders, users, CMS pages and settings — so marketing copy and legal pages are editable without a deployment.

Per-network deposit addresses
Sell flow shows the right address per chain, which is where funds are usually lost.

Common questions
How do customers pay?
In Naira, through Paystack's hosted checkout. The exact total — including the rate, network fee and service fee — is shown on a live receipt before they are sent to pay.
Can we set our own margins?
Yes. The admin panel controls the global NGN/USD rate, per-coin markups, service fees and order limits. Changing a margin takes effect on every quote issued afterwards.
Do customers need an account to buy?
No. Guest checkout lets a first-time customer complete a purchase without registering, which is where most onramps lose people. Returning customers can sign in with Google.
How are sell orders verified?
The customer sends coins to the deposit address shown for that specific network, uploads the transaction hash as proof, and an administrator verifies it before the bank payout is released.
