What is AssetMotion?
▼
AssetMotion is cloud-based asset management software deployed and supported by WebMotion HQ. It keeps a complete register of everything your organisation owns — assets, licences, accessories, consumables and components — with barcode and QR labels, check-in/check-out to staff, depreciation and book values, physical audits, maintenance records and a full activity trail on every record.
?
Is it suitable for organisations in Nigeria?
▼
Yes. AssetMotion is hosted for you, set to the Naira and your date format, and configured around your own sites, departments and categories. It suits Nigerian businesses, schools, hospitals, factories, NGOs and government agencies, and supports several branches or companies from one installation.
?
What does the asset management software include?
▼
A fixed-asset register with custom fields, barcode and QR label printing, check-in/check-out with signed acceptance and EULA, licences with seat tracking, consumables with low-stock alerts, accessories and components, depreciation and net book value, disposal records, maintenance and repair history, physical audits with due dates, CSV import, ten built-in reports plus a custom report builder, and a REST API.
?
Does it support barcode and QR-code tracking?
▼
Yes. Every asset gets a unique tag, and AssetMotion prints the labels for it — QR or 1D barcodes, on Avery sheets, Brother and Dymo tapes, or straight to a Zebra label printer over ZPL. Staff scan with a phone camera or a handheld scanner to pull up an asset, check it in, or run an audit.
?
Can it track who has each asset and where it is?
▼
Yes. Assets are checked out to a person, a location or another asset, with an expected return date. The employee accepts the item — with a typed or drawn signature against your EULA — and until they do it shows on the unaccepted-assets report. Every move, repair, audit and edit is written to the asset history permanently.
?
Does it handle depreciation and audits?
▼
Yes. You define depreciation schedules per category with a term in months and a salvage floor; AssetMotion holds the straight-line book value for every asset and can value the register as at any date, so your auditor gets figures at the financial year end rather than today. Physical audits are logged per asset with a due date, and the audit-due report shows what is outstanding.
?
Does AssetMotion support IFRS compliance?
▼
Yes. AssetMotion covers the accounting standards that govern fixed assets end to end: IAS 16 for revaluation, where a valuer's appraisal establishes a new carrying amount and the surplus is split correctly between other comprehensive income and profit or loss; IAS 36 for impairment, including cash-generating unit assessment, loss allocation and reversals; and IFRS 5 for assets held for sale. Every movement produces the disclosure notes your external auditor asks for at period end.
?
Can it handle asset revaluation and appreciation?
▼
Yes. Where land, buildings or other property are carried under the IAS 16 revaluation model, AssetMotion holds a revaluation register with the valuer's name, registration number, valuation basis and report reference. The new carrying amount is depreciated over the remaining useful life, an increase goes to the revaluation surplus in equity, and a later decrease is set against that surplus before it touches reported profit — so appreciation and impairment share one balance and cannot drift apart.
?
How does AssetMotion handle IAS 36 impairment?
▼
Each period the system reviews the register and flags impairment indicators automatically — idle assets, damage logged against maintenance, assets carried above their latest valuation, closed locations. Assessments are raised against an individual asset or a cash-generating unit, comparing carrying amount with the higher of fair value less costs of disposal and value in use. Losses are allocated across the unit's assets with the IAS 36 floor applied, reversals are capped at the un-impaired carrying amount, and goodwill is never reversed.
?
Does it provide an audit trail and approval controls?
▼
Yes. Every movement, edit and approval is logged with user, date, location and before-and-after values, and records cannot be deleted. Financial actions such as revaluation, impairment and disposal run under maker–checker dual control: one officer prepares, a different officer approves, enforced by the system, and no officer can approve their own work. Rejected entries stay visible on the asset history for internal audit and examiners.
?
How much does AssetMotion cost?
▼
Pricing depends on how many assets and users you manage, how many sites you run and how much setup and data import you need. There are no set-up fees. Contact WebMotion HQ or book a free demo for a written quotation.
?
Can I try it before buying?
▼
Yes. A live demo runs at assets.webmotionhq.com with sample data, so you can walk the register, checkout, audit and reporting screens yourself. You can also book a guided session and we will show it against your own use case.
